How to rotate PDF pages online

Choose a PDF or drop it onto the drop zone. Once the file is parsed the page count appears, and you can either rotate every page or enter a selection such as 1-3, 5. Pick 90, 180, or 270 degrees and the tool writes a new PDF you can download.

This PDF page rotator runs entirely in the browser. The document is parsed and rebuilt by a local library inside the current tab, so neither the file nor the rotated result is uploaded anywhere.

The source file is left untouched. Rotation always produces a new document, so you can try a different angle or a different page selection without having to undo anything.

Choosing the right rotation

Use 90 degrees when a page is a quarter turn out — the usual result of feeding a landscape sheet into a portrait scanner. Whether you need 90 or 270 depends on which way it was fed, and the quickest way to tell is to look at which edge the text runs along.

Use 180 degrees for pages that came through upside down, which happens routinely with duplex scanning and with documents fed the wrong way round.

Because rotation is cheap and non-destructive here, guessing is fine. If the first attempt turns pages the wrong way, rotate the original again with a different angle rather than rotating the output a second time.

Rotating some pages instead of all

Mixed-orientation documents are the normal case in practice. A report may be portrait throughout except for three landscape tables, and rotating everything would fix those three while breaking the rest.

Entering a page selection lets you turn PDF pages selectively — 4, 7-9 rotates only those pages and leaves every other page exactly as it was. Pages outside the selection keep their original rotation value.

If you change the selection after a rotation, the tool tells you the selection changed and asks you to run it again, so the file you download always matches what is on screen.

What rotation actually changes

A PDF page carries a rotation value that viewers apply when displaying it. This tool changes that value rather than redrawing the page, so text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp, and images are not re-encoded.

That distinction matters for quality. Tools that rasterize pages to rotate them turn text into pixels, which inflates file size and destroys searchability. Here the page content is preserved exactly and only its orientation metadata moves.

It also means rotation is essentially lossless and very fast, even for documents approaching the page limit.

Limits and unsupported files

Standard PDFs up to the displayed byte limit and two hundred pages are supported. Those bounds exist because processing happens in the browser, and the tool reports them up front rather than failing halfway through.

Password-protected files cannot be opened and will report that the PDF is unreadable. Damaged documents, and files from unusual generators, may also fail to parse — opening and re-saving the PDF in a viewer often repairs the structure enough for rotation to work.
